Y&R Fans... You're In For a Treat!

First of all, I apologize for not being on here for a very long time! But I am back and will give you soap updates for a while!

But anyways, Y&R fans, get ready for a very special week starting October 11-15! Repeats of past Y&R episodes will air in the former timeslot of "As the World Turns"! For the time being, "The Price Is Right" repeats will air in the timeslot. Take a look!

Monday October 11th: Y&R's 36th Anniversary Episode - This is Marge's Last Appearance on the show. (March 26, 2009).

Tuesday October 12th: Billy and Chloe's Wedding Day - This is the one with the Cake Fight and the return of Mac. (April 3, 2009).

Wednesday October 13th: Y&R's New Year’s Eve episode featuring Billy Abbott (December 31, 2009)

Thursday October 14th: Michael and Lauren’s Wedding episode (December 9, 2005)

Friday October 15th: Merry-Go-Round / House of Mirrors episode (AKA: The End of that Hideous Storyline) (May 4, 2010).

And I would also like to say, I miss ATWT already! I loved that show and I hate that there's only 6 Soaps on the air right now.

Also, I really kind of wished that they would show some older episodes from the 80s or 90s. But, at least we ARE getting repeats since Christmas this year falls on a Saturday (reason why I say that is because Y&R always shows reruns every Christmas). After the week of Y&R reruns, "The Talk" will premiere. Which I have a bad feeling this show is going to be a dud!

Labor Day CBS Soaps Preemptions

Due to the Labor Day holiday, all CBS soaps will be preempted today due to coverage of the US Open Tennis Games. As always, don't fret because the soaps will be back tommorow, September 7! Take time to enjoy the day and stay away from the TV since the soaps are off OR you can watch encore episodes of ABC's soaps. Maybe you can check out what happened on those soaps this past summer! I would like to say happy Labor Day! And hopes your's is a good one

Wilson Bethel and Stacy Haiduk let go from Young and the Restless

Wilson Bethel, who plays Ryder Callahan, and Stacy Haiduk, who plays Patty Williams and Emily Peterson have been let go due to their contracts. Both of these roles were meant to be short-term. Both of these actors joined the Y&R family just last year. Stacy Haiduk, who should've been nominated and awarded an Emmy in my opinion, has been in a frontburner storyline, dealing with her alter egos, Mary-Jane Benson, also known as Patty Williams, and Emily Peterson, Patty's psychiatrist. Wilson Bethel has also been in a frontburner storyline dealing with Sarah Smythe, Sheila Carter's sister, coming to Genoa City to kill Lauren Fenmore, Jana and Kevin Fisher and Michael Baldwin. Currently, he is romantically entangled with Jana Fisher, who "lost" her emotions after brain surgery and soon after dumped Kevin Fisher, her husband. There has been no word when Stacy Haiduk will leave the show, however, Bethel will leave the show on August 3rd.

SOAPnet planning to air "Sins of the Father" marathon Father's Day

Set your DVR for this GH fans! SOAPnet is planning to air a "Sins of the Father" marathon on Father's Day, June 20th (that's THIS Sunday) for 4 hours (From 3pm-7pm). This marathon features some episodes spanning from September 2009-April 2010. It will focus mainly on the trials and tribulations of Port Charles mobster, Sonny Corinthos. This is great for those people who love Y&R, B&B... heck... any soap! GH, as most know, is all about the mobs and the hospital scenes. If you've never quite got into GH, now's the time! One little thing I have to say, despite SOAPnet's demise, at least they still focus on the soaps. I guess we'll just have to enjoy SN while it lasts. RIP my friend! Take a look at the press release:

"Sonny has grown to respect and admire newcomer Dante. However, their relationship takes a sharp turn when the mob boss learns the man he’s considering entrusting his empire to is really an undercover cop. When Sonny gets his revenge for this ultimate betrayal and shoots Dante, he’s in for the most dramatic reveal of all. He’s just shot his own son. Now the two must learn to deal with all that’s happened – and each other.

It’s the powerful story that has everyone talking about General Hospital, and SOAP net is celebrating it this Father’s Day with a four hour marathon. Tune in from 3-7PM."

Reaction to Disney axing SOAPnet!

As most know, last week in a press release, Disney/ABC execs decided to take SOAPnet off the air and bring in a new demographic and more competition for Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. Channel. The channel is to be called, "Disney Jr.". The channel is set to begin January 2012.

My reaction: I have to say this was earth-shattering news. Considering that ABC, in my opinion, is trying to save this ill-fated genre. I have to say, when I first heard the news I didn't believe it. But after seeing it on CNN and Entertainment Weekly's website, I was stunned and speechless at the same time. However, I started thinking that the channel really was calling for a death wish. Over the past few years, the channel was trying to steer clear away from the genre and go towards soapy but yet not soapy dramas like, Gilmore Girls, BH90210, The OC, and One Tree Hill. So the network really was asking for it. But even with this madness, they still aired Y&R, Days, and all of ABC's soaps. The question is, why get rid of this channel? Yes, there's DVR's and online viewing. But have you ever thought about people who can't afford a DVR much less a computer? My grandmother got digital cable back in 2003 and discovered SOAPnet back in 2005-2006 ish. She quickly became amazed when they acquired the rights to Y&R. And she soon began watching the ABC soaps all over again (she quit watching them about 20 years beforehand). She loved it and when I told her the news myself, she was perplexed as I was. Now my grandmother knows nothing about using a computer and I'm sure she would be operating a DVR like a monkey solving a math problem. In fact, for years I had to program her VCR when she went out shopping or run some errands long before SOAPnet and at times I would have to bring my tape for her to watch. So this news really pissed her off. Because she watches Y&R and B&B on CBS and watches AMC on SoapNet.

Another question I have is, how many kids channels can you name off the top of your head? Let's see... Nick, Disney Channel, Noggin...err Nick Jr, TeenNick, DisneyXD, Cartoon Network, Boomerang... that's TOO MANY TO COUNT! How many drama channels can you name off the top of your head? Lifetime, SoapNet, LMN, TNT... not much is it? Kids channels have become as abundant as those stupid news channels that nobody watches. It seems like cable pampers to the kids and teens, while the parents and adults are stuck watching them. Now I don't know about you but would I be watching Hannah Montana and Spongebob all day with my kids... umm... I don't think so. Adults need entertainment for themselves not some colorful, bright, fun and steroid driven sponge that dances and laughs too much!

If it was up to me I would keep SoapNet and make rallys and celebrations for the soaps across the country and try to save the genre as well as bring more soap entertainment back to this channel. Make a protest on Good Morning America and The Early Show even come on local news stations and tell your viewers how this genre really is a great genre. Advertise on cable networks and local networks about the channel and make soaps popular again. Give school girls something to talk about, the soaps of course. Not gossip or who's dating who. This will not only boost Disney and ABC's profits but will also boost CBS and NBC's profits and could possibly bring more soaps on the air. This would be a great strategy and more and more people will watch these shows.

However, if you really are dying to just kill SoapNet then at least create a good channel for the soap viewers. Keep your viewers. Imagine, thousands of viewers who were faithful to your channel will be all gone. Make a network that will air the soaps. I don't care if you air that Breakfast in Bed crap just keep the doggone soaps!

But since the channel is going off, I will say this, the soaps still air on CBS, ABC, and NBC. My suggestion if you can't afford a DVR or just can't stand watching soaps on the internet, go to the nearest thrift store and buy you a VCR, my local Goodwill sells them for around $10 and stock up on some blank tapes at Walmart (believe it or not they still sell them). Or you could try your hand at a DVD recorder. I have a DVD recorder/VCR combo that I got for about $120 at Walmart. And trust me, it was the best investment I made in a while.

Marcy Rylan: Is the old Y&R back?

I don't know about you, but FINALLY I think this show is finally getting its class back. Goodbye doppelgangers, hello Marcy Rylan! Forget Eden Riegel, this girl has potential to me to make a great storyline with her now SORAS'D character, Abby Newman. Wait! Do you recall Marcy say she was Abby Newman and not Carlton? What happened to Abby Carlton? Colleen and Brad is gone and she is no longer a Carlton anymore? And did you notice the preview at the end of the show, she then said she is an Abbott and a Newman. Again, she never mumbled the word, Carlton. Anyway, maybe I'm just over-reacting. So, I believe this girl is a bright light on this show. She done a wonderful job on Guiding Light before it was canceled, so I'm sure she'll do a fabulous job on Y&R! Here's a clip of her first scenes today!

Weekly Oldie: May 18th

Take a look at this weekly oldie from 1991 featuring Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman). Somehow, they tried to resurrect this storyline this year, but it wasn't a fan favorite obviously.

Adrienne Frantz Returning to B&B

Earlier this month, Adrienne Frantz' character, Amber, left town to get away from her conceited mother, Tawny, who came to Genoa City soon after Amber left. Now, Amber, er... Adrienne, will be returning back to her stomping grounds at B&B. I'm sure Little D, I mean, Eric, will be coming to LA with her. She will start taping her first scenes tomorrow, May 18th. Those episodes should be set to air on July 1st. And who's to say, Amber may bump into Deacon and Tawny along the way. Or we could possibly see her duking it out with Steffy (wouldn't we all?)! Here's a classic clip of Amber when she was in LA.

UPDATE: Daytime Emmy Nominations announced today on The Early Show!

Well folks, I had my DVD recorder set to tape The Early Show today, because this was the day that the Emmy Nominations would be announced. Here's a few at a glance. I'm quite pleased with this year's list!

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series:
Sarah Brown: Claudia Zacchara Corinthos - General Hospital
Crystal Chappell: Olivia Spencer - Guiding Light
Bobbie Eakes: Krystal Carey - All My Children
Michelle Stafford: Phyllis Newman - The Young and the Restless
Maura West: Carly Snyder - As The World Turns

My pick for the Emmy: Well, Michelle Stafford was on her A-game as always on Y&R, however I kind of wished Stacy Haiduk was nominated, but I have to say Michelle Stafford does a great performance on the show and so I hope she gets the Emmy. However, Crystal Chappell should also get the Emmy because I loved loved loved the Otalia storyline and it was just fantastic and Crystal done a great job on that show!

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series:
Peter Bergman: Jack Abbott - The Young and the Restless
Doug Davidson: Paul Williams - The Young and the Restless
Jon Lindstrom: Craig Montgomery - As The World Turns
Michael Park: Jack Snyder - As The World Turns
James Scott - EJ Wells - Days of our Lives

My pick for the Emmy: Sorry folks but I never watched Days as a regular viewer, I watch ATWT occasionally but I always get their names mixed up so I'm going to have to pick between the 2 Y&R cast members, Doug Davidson done an OK job with the Nikki/Paul storyline, and the Mary-Jane revelation storyline. However, Peter Bergman was almost nearly caught in the middle of all the storylines on the show last year. And he done an absolutely marvelous job with the Mary-Jane/Patty storyline and the affair with Phyllis. So I'm going to have to give it to Peter Bergman!

Outstanding Daytime Drama Series:
All My Children: ABC
The Bold and the Beautiful: CBS
General Hospital: ABC
The Young and the Restless: CBS

My pick for the Emmy: WOW! Well, I don't know about AMC, they were... iffy last year, B&B was OK, but really it was just another year for Ridge to flip-flop between Brooke and Taylor, a mainstay on the show, I'm sorry but the poor man needs to make up his mind! Anyway, GH was pretty good too! As well as Y&R, they were way better last year than this year for a fact. So I think it's a tie-breaker between General Hospital and The Young and the Restless!

This was pretty much all the nominations they aired for the soaps on The Early Show, I'll update you with the rest of the noms!

Weekly Oldie: May 11th

Here is a full episode from May 10, 1988, 22 years ago yesterday! Take a look at what storylines were going on at the time! I like the old hair commercials... gives me a good laugh at some of the late 80s doos! Not to mention, some of the cast member's hair including Lauren's was absolutely hilarious. Sorry about the quality folks, this came from someone's collection on YouTube. And it came from a 22 year old VHS tape as far as I know, so it's not unusual for a tape this old to look like this.

Y&R Promo: Nick's Freedom Depends on a Deranged Woman

Well folks the doppelgangers may have phased out a little bit - meaning the Ryder/Daisy/Sarah storyline that practically everyone hated (honestly if they brought Kimberlin Brown back I think it would've been a great storyline - but enough about that) well it seems Patty has once again gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs since her plan to kill Emily didn't exactly go as planned (thank God Jack finally came to his senses again and knew it was Patty - you go Jack!). So here is this week's promo for Y&R!

CBS will air the Daytime Emmys this year!

Somebody pinch me! Hopefully this is CBS' way of saying "We do care about the soap genre" which I find hard to believe. The Emmys will be held in Las Vegas! A first for the Emmys! The date is June 27th, 9PM-11PM EST Live on the East Coast, however the West Coast will not see it live. More details on nominations and such when May 12th rolls in!

The 'Hoff Returns to his roots!

According to soapcentral.com David Hasselhoff will be reprising his role of Snapper Foster on "The Young and the Restless". His former co-workers will be returning as well, Julianna McCarthy, who played Liz Foster, Jill's "Mother", and Wings Hauser, who played Snapper and Jill's brother, Greg. No word on exactly when they will be returning, only that they will appear sometime in June. David Hasselhoff filled in for William Grey Espy, who originally played Snapper from the premiere of Y&R in 1973 until 1975 when Hasselhoff took over. After Hasselhoff left the role in 1982 he went on to be a successful actor in Hollywood, mainly in television. Some of the shows he starred in were, Baywatch, Knight Rider, and went on to be a judge on the hit reality show, America's Got Talent. More information when it rolls in.

The Latest Y&R Promo - It's all up to Kay!

Let's hope this week is a little better than these past couple of weeks. Cross your fingers and hope Maria Bell gets fired! Hey we can always dream! Here is the narration during the promo: "One woman is accused when everyone had motive and everyone had something to lose"

Weekly Oldie: April 18

Here is a weekly oldie that is much deserved due to the atrocious story-telling that is Y&R these days. So I've added an extra oldie in there too! So enjoy!

I thought this was hilarious! This is rather a "collage" of the 3 Jill's that were seen in a matter of days. This was around the time Brenda Dickson was having contract issues and Deborah Adair assumed the role until Brenda came back... but just for a day or two and eventually Jess Walton took the role and has been on the show since

I don't know about you, but I was really hoping that they would bring back Kimberlin Brown this year.

Double Double Toil and Trouble with a touch of bad acting!

OK so we all know these chain of events is all thanks to Maria Arena Bell and her "poppin!" concept that she thinks works. HA! More like the pooping concept! Because this whole Sarah Smythe Emily Patty Whodunit fiasco is the reason why so many fans are confused, including me! And so you ask, why are we seeing Yvonne Zima every 5 minutes with her "smells like dog crap" look on her face? Because MAB thinks she "pops!" like she's the best actress on the show. Wait a minute! What about Melody Thomas Scott, Michelle Stafford, Sharon Case, and most especially Jess Walton and Jeanne Cooper? What about them? The vets. The ones that's been on the show for 10-30 years. You know those cast members that you don't pay attention to because your mind is concentrating too much on Yvonne Zima and Darius McCrary? Yeah those people! Zima has been on the show since October, that's 6 months. Jamey Giddens of Daytime Confidential makes a point about the show. It's turning into a Passions 2.0! Genoa City should change it's name to Harmony! Someone please wake me when it's over and wake me when Maria Arena Bell finally gets that wild hair out of her butt to turn Y&R from sugar to crap!

Update

Sorry I haven't been on lately... But on a lighter note... I just uploaded a new video on YouTube. Hope y'all like it! And I'll try my best to get back on here a lot more.
